TOUR: ETNA + ALCANTARA FULL DAY

IN THE TOUR HALF DAYS IS DEDICATED TO ALCANTARA AND HALF DAY TO ETNA (IN FREE ORDER).

- DIFFICULTY LEVEL: TOUR SUITABLE FOR EVERYBODY, APPROPRIATE FOR FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND SENIORS WITH A MINIMUM WILLINGNESS TO WALK. IT IS NOT NEEDED TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM.

TOUR INCLUDES:

- Pick up and drop off from/to your accommodation and transport free of charge (you do not pay it).

- Visit to the magnificent Alcantara gorges walking its clear water with the possibility to swim (tickets included). 

- Walk through the small Alcantara waterfalls and natural pools with the possibility to relax in nature Jacuzzi.

- Walk in a volcanic path on Etna and visit to some flank craters with stunning volcanic landscape and unforgettable panoramas.

- Visit to the lava flow from 2002, last big eruption on Etna which destroyed the touristic village of Piano Provenza.

- Visit to a beautiful volcanic cave with an interesting and fascinating history (helmets and torches provided for free).

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR:

After the pick up from your accommodation or in a prearranged meeting place, we travel by vehicle in the legendary Alcantara river, one of the few examples in the world of a river that flow thorughlava flows. We explore its famous gorges, volcanic canyons created by the water of incomparable beauty. We take the opportunity for a nice swim in its crystal clear waters. In the nearby we visit some small waterfalls and natural pools where we can relax sitting inside them enjoying this nature jacuzzi.

On Etna we visit some flank craters reached by a beautiful volcanic path between rich forests and desolate lava fields; the volcanic landscape reveal itself in its immense beauty and the panorama from the top of the craters remains indelible in the mind. It is also visited the lava flow from the eruption in 2002, which is the last destructive eruption of Etna overwhelming the tourist village of Piano Provenzana. Finally we will explore a volcanic cave originated by a prehistoric eruption and characterized by unique geological formations and a fascinating history.

Visited places will be presented with explanations, images, videos and historical documents.

WHAT TO BRING AND ADVICES:

- Trekking or at least tennis shoes, pullover, windbreaker, water (at least 1.5 liter per person), something to eat if needed (however there will be a break in some local café with tasty and affordable local products). Concerning Alcantara river: hat, sun cream, sunglasses, swimming suit, towel, flip-flop or better sea-shoes, spare socks and shirt. Pullover and light windbreaker can be hired for free.

- Tour in Alcantara river is really easy, it requires only small walks and it is suitable for children, families and seniors. For those who want it, it is possible to swim in some part of the river, but it is not necessary to know how to swim as most of the river is not deep. Paths on Etna are easy and suitable to everybody who haven't problems in walking.

- Tour can be customized as the small group of only 4 participants in total.

Prices include all transports for free, local and licensed guide, insurance, trekking poles, helmets and torches for the cave. If needed, it is possible to hire pullovers and windbreakers for free.
